Arrangement and Decomposition of Grain Boundary Dislocations: Two-Mode Phase-Field Crystal Simulation

چکیده

The grain-boundary dislocation arrangement and decomposition during constant-volume deformation of a nanoscale bi-crystal system in fcc-structured materials were studied by using the two-mode phase-field crystal (2PFC) method. effects different grain boundary misorientations (GBMs) tensile directions on are analyzed. In three symmetrical tilt boundaries evaluated PFC, atomic density profile changed periodically at equilibrium. initial samples is almost same when applied to x - or y direction, all symmetrically arranged “bowknot ”structure. stress concentrated with increase strain, can effectively reduce concentration. time steps decreases increasing strain rate. This work facilitates application PFC analysis mechanics an extended range materials.

Melting at dislocations and grain boundaries: A phase field crystal study

Dislocation and grain-boundary melting are studied in three dimensions using the phase field crystal method. Isolated dislocations are found to melt radially outward from their core, as the localized excess elastic energy drives a power-law divergence in the melt radius. Dislocations within low angle to intermediate angle grain boundaries melt similarly until an angle-dependent first-order wett...

Grain rotation mediated by grain boundary dislocations in nanocrystalline platinum

Grain rotation is a well-known phenomenon during high (homologous) temperature deformation and recrystallization of polycrystalline materials. In recent years, grain rotation has also been proposed as a plasticity mechanism at low temperatures (for example, room temperature for metals), especially for nanocrystalline grains with diameter d less than ~15 nm. Here, in tensile-loaded Pt thin films...

A Phase-Field Simulation Study of Irregular Grain Boundary Migration during Recrystallization

We present simulation results based on a phase-field model that describes the migration of recrystallization boundaries into spatially varying deformation energy fields. Energy fields with 2-dimensional variations representing 2 sets of dislocation boundaries lying at equal, but opposite, angles to the moving boundary are considered. The simulations show that the shape and overall migration rat...

Analysis of the elastic strain energy driving force for grain boundary migration using phase field simulation

We investigate elastic energy-driven grain boundary migration in a strained copper bicrystal using an atomistically informed phase field model. In a bicrystal experiencing a uniform strain, the softer grain has a lower energy density and grows at the expense of the harder grain. In a bicrystal experiencing heterogeneous strain, the softer grain has a higher energy density, yet it still grows. O...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
